THE SAFETY OF EMBANKMENTS AGAINST CREEP
LA SICUREZZA DEI TERRAPIENI NEI CONFRONTI DELLO SLITTAMIENTO
The calculation of the safety factor against embankment creep as a result of its own weight is discussed, and a procedure for evaluating the stresses along the slip surface is presented. The form and position of the most unfavourable surface are identified, and a computer program developed for calculating the condition variables. Some safety factors are derived for different embankment heights, and the parameters identifying the corresponding creep surfaces, are presented. /TRRL/
