A REVIEW OF THE CONCRETE CONSOLIDATION BY VIBRATION
The author describes the state of the art of compaction by vibration. Following a brief description of the operation of the rotating vibrator, the most commonly used types of vibrators are listed: internal vibrator, formwork vibrator, vibrating table, surface vibrator. Their mechanical characteristics are discussed together with their selection and application. A study is presented of the behaviour of fresh concrete subjected to vibration and of the two-stage compaction process. A qualitative explanation is given of the liquefaction of concrete by vibration. The need for further research into vibratory compaction is stressed. /TRRL/
