RESISTANCE OF HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL REINFORCEMENT TO CORROSION CRACKING
STOJKOST' VYSOKOPROCHNOJ STERZHNEVOJ ARMATURY K KORROZIONNOMU RASTRESKIVANIYU
This article describes a study of the stress corrosion of prestressed concrete reinforcement. The corrosive environment is a solution of boiling nitrate. Life time-applied stress curves are used to evaluate the degree of sensitivity of the steel to tensile corrosion cracking. If the stress is greater than the elastic limit, the steel can be used without restriction. If the stress is smaller than the elastic limit and has a life time smaller than 100 hours, the steel does not resist stress corrosion in an aggressive medium. These results have been applied to different categories of steel produced in the USSR. This article is available as a French translation from the lcpc, traduction lcpc 74T5. /TRRL/
