CONTRIBUTION TO THE DETERMINATION OF STRESSES IN THE ASSEMBLY JOINTS OF CAST-IN-SITU PRESTRESSED CONCRETE CONTINUOUS BRIDGES BUILT IN SECTIONS
BEITRAG ZUR ERMITTLUNG DER SPANNUNGEN IN KOPPELFUGEN AUS ORTBETON HERGESTELLTER DURCHLAUFENDER SPANNBETONBRUECKEN
The authors study the distribution of the normal stresses in the assembly joints of section-built prestressed concrete box girder bridges. Because of the localized deformation of the front part of the different sections, stress is unevenly distributed in the assembly joints, thus creating tensile stresses at the edges of the section. Tensile stresses can also be due to other reasons causing the appearance of cracks. Longitudinal reinforcements evenly distributed, is one way of avoiding them. /TRRL/
