THE URBAN STOLPORT: SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

The provision of properly located, adequately equipped ports for the short take-off and landing (STOL) aeroplanes, offers an advantage to both the urban center and the short haul traveller. However, planning for such air terminals which occupy minimal space, must start early and involve the whole community. The STOL system is demonstrating that it can reduce time and cost for the intercity driver, relieve surface congestion at major airports, and reduce air pollution. The Toronto Island Airport Committee's efforts to provide a STOLport in Toronto are outlined.
