A GUIDE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE CONNECTICUT IMPACT-ATTENUATION SYSTEM (CIAS)
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has designed, tested, and field-evaluated the Connecticut Impact-Attenuation System (CIAS). The CIAS is designed to reduce the severity of an impact by controlling the deceleration of the errant vehicle. Safety performance to date has shown that the CIAS is extremely effective in saving lives and reducing injuries caused by vehicular collisions with rigid roadway features. This guide (in the form of a small booklet) describes the materials and procedures required to repair a damaged CIAS unit properly.
