CONTROL OF POLLUTION ACT 1974. CHAPTER 40
Chapter 40 of the act is arranged under the following main sections: waste on land; pollution of water; noise; pollution of the atmosphere; supplementary provision, and miscellaneous and general. The section on noise is concerned with periodical inspections by local authorities; summary proceedings to deal with noise by local authorities and by occupiers of premises; control of noise on construction sites; noise in streets; noise abatement zones, noise from plant or machinery, and codes of practice for minimizing noise. The section on pollution of the atmosphere is concerned with regulations on motor fuel to prevent air pollution and information about atmospheric pollution, including regulations about research and publicity. /TRRL/
