IMPLEMENTING RESEARCH RESULTS I
In considering implementation of research dealing with lighting for night driving, the author suggests the use of polarized headlighting. The problem of misaim is alleviated by expansion of the headlight beam. The trend toward increasing average age of drivers indicates that glare disability, which increases with age, will become an even greater problem. Research is called for to investigate the potential for glare reduction by use of polarized headlighting. Though the vehicle and fuel consumption costs would be greater, it is felt that the increased expenditure would be compensated for by improved night driving safety.
