QUICK INSITU-CBR FOR ROAD ENGINEERING FROM DCP/INSITU-CBR RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPED IN MALAYSIA. PROCEEDINGS, SIXTH CONFERENCE, ROAD ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF ASIA AND AUSTRALASIA, 4-10 MARCH 1990, KUALA LUMPUR, VOLUMES 1 TO 5 AND POST CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

Dynamic cone penetrometers (DCP) have been widely used throughout the world to measure the structural properties of road pavement layers constructed with unbound material. It is simple to use and is a quicker method. And most important, it does not require destructive measures such as digging of test pit. A study was carried out on selected sites along the major trunk roads in West Malaysia to develop a relationship between insitu DCP and insitu CBR. Trial pits were dug where insitu DCP and insitu CBR tests were carried out to obtain their relationship. This study produced a close relationship between insitu DCP and insitu CBR which site engineers can make use of in the monitoring of new road and evaluation of existing pavement.
