ILLUM-O-RAIL GUARDRAIL DELINEATION

Alberta Transportation and Utilities purchased 250 metres of Illum-O-Rail guardrail illumination material in 1990 and installed various sections over several highway sites. Daytime and nighttime inspections were carried out and showed that the product did not stand out at night. At a cost of $4.50 to $6.00 per foot, the product does not enhance nighttime delineation already provided by small strips of retro-reflective sheeting on the guardrail posts.
