OIL ANALYSIS IN PERSPECTIVE
This paper reviews the methods of oil analysis in order to show their weaknesses with respect to improving future lubrication system design and reliability. Also changes are recommended that appear necessary for good "oil analysis" services for future high performance equipment. Detection of component malfunction in lubrication and hydraulic systems, prognosis of the course, and remaining system life and possible diagnosis of the types of failing components have been the primary objectives of most oil analysis activities.
