CPM TECHNIQUES FOR CLAIMS AVOIDANCE AND PREPARATION. IN: PREPARING FOR CONSTRUCTION IN THE 21ST CENTURY, PROCEEDINGS OF CONSTRUCTION CONGRESS '91, SPONSORED BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS IN COOPERATION WITH THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF MINING ENGINEERS AND THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, APRIL 13-16, 1991

Virtually all major construction claims consist of some aspects of delay, disruption or acceleration. Since all of the foregoing relate directly to the timing and sequencing of the project team's performance, it is important that the project schedule is established at the beginning of the project and properly used during the course of construction. This paper describes the advantages of using the Critical Path Method of scheduling over the bar chart. Also discusses the fragmented network (fragnet) schedule for construction projects.
