THE ROLE OF THE MASTER IN AN INDUSTRIALIZED TRANSPORT SYSTEM AT SEA
Consists of two papers (1) The Ship Master's Job, and (2) The Future Role of the Master. Examines both the extent to which modern developments in the shipping industry have rendered the shipboard social structure, headed as it is by the Master, difficult to maintain. The role requirements and occupational structure of the most senior member of a shipboard community for present and future requirements are discussed.
