ANALYSIS OF BOW NEAR FIELD OF FLAT SHIPS
This study originates from the practical need to investigate into the bow flow phenomenon of full ships in ballast condition, which is known as wave breaking phenomenon. The objective is to develop an analytical method for the improvement of bow form in shallow draft condition. The bow-flow theory of Ogilvie is applied to a flat body problem. The experimental results suggest the validity of the present approach to the bow flow problems. Also, the present theory can serve as a tool for analysing the resistance characteristics of the bow form in shallow draft condition.
