THE FUTURE TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF ROAD TRANSPORT. POSSIBLE ECONOMIC REPERCUSSIONS
EL FUTURO DESARROLLO TECNOLOGICO. TRANSPORTE POR CARRETERA. POSIBLES EFECTOS ECONOMICOS
Among technological innovations, safety devices outside the vehicle are becoming increasingly important. An example of this is Orbis 3, which consists of a panel resting on a support located at black spots. The use of photography permits a constant surveillance of drivers contravening traffic regulations. Its use led to a 98% reduction in traffic offences. As regards freight transport, the present tendency is towards specialization, e.g. adaptation of the transport mode to the freight carried, so as to be able to have complete control of the latter during its transport. A review is presented of studies of electric cars : Electrovair, Rowan, Urbania, Stil (electronically controlled), and Jarret. In France, an investigation is being conducted into the development of a low-sound emission vehicle, the electric motor of which works on hydrogen. /TRRL/
