CONSTRUCTIONAL DEFECTS CAUSING ANNOYING RESONANCES AND CONSTRUCTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR PREVENTING THEM

DEFAUTS CONSTRUCTIFS FAVORISANT L'APPARITION DE RESONANCES GENANTES ET DISPOSITIONS CONSTRUCTIVE DIMINUANT LES RISQUES DE RESONANCE

Among the various acoustic defects able to spoil the comfort of a new car model, resonance phenomena are the most difficult to eliminate because of their dispersion. Investigations have shown that some design and constructional defects are the main causes of resonance. It is not possible at this stage to give firm guidelines for avoiding the occurrence of resonance, but recommendations can be put forward to reduce the possibility of the more serious defects. Those recommendations concern mainly the reduction in dynamic deformations of the car interior either by judiciously selecting the entry point of excitation, or by increasing the dynamic stiffness of entry points, which could not be eliminated. /TRRL/
