THE ROAD ENVIRONMENT. ITS DYNAMIC EFFECTS
L'ENVIRONNEMENT ROUTIER - SES EFFETS AERODYNAMIQUES
The dynamic equilibrium of vehicles is determined by the soil reactions on the 4 tyres and by the numerous reactions of the air on each of the components of the vehicle. The variety of aerodynamic disturbances on motorways is very important, especially in under passes or on bridges. Wind tunnel tests led to an improved knowledge of aerodynamic phenomena and their influence on safety, thus leading to measures concerning the design of adequate signs, the reduction of side-wind (embankment, screens, etc.), education of the road user and thorough training of the driver. /TRRL/
