KERBSIDE PARKING - THE THREE TIER PARKING CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE TRIAL OF LINE MARKINGS IN NSW . 15TH ARRB CONFERENCE, DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY, 26-31 AUGUST 1990; PROCEEDINGS PARTS 1 TO 7

This paper reviews the current three tier parking restriction in NSW (New South Wales) and discusses its relevant issues. Also, it highlights the findings of the survey on trial of linemarking for kerbside restrictions. The trial of kerbside line marking to denote 'Clearway' and 'No Stopping' restriction was introduced in July 1988 with a view to reducing the visual pollution of signs, to providing increased conspicuity, better recognition and hence improved compliance with those restrictions. Finally, the paper outlines the future research required for development of a kerbside linemarking system compatible with the two tier parking system and the SAA symbolic parking signs.
