GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS: A PARTIALLY ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer program/system that combines digital mapped imagery and database information. The mapped imagery can come from simple, everyday maps that are digitized for computer use, to satellite generated images. This information is then linked with all information pertaining to the areas in question so that it can be accessed easily by those who need it. The material covered in this bibliography emphasizes articles which contain step-by-step plans that have been used to construct successful systems. The period covered is 1989 to present.
