WINTER MAINTENANCE IN STYRIA. PROCEEDINGS - INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON ROAD AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE, PORTOROZ, 1988
ZIMSKA SLUZBA U STAJERSKOJ
This paper presents the organization of winter maintenance in styria, Austria with regard to weathering and maintenance costs. It presents basic data on geographical position of styria, its climate, road network and traffic. Snow height is usually between 1 and 9 m and the average winter period is 100 days. Motorways and expressways are equipped with frost forecasting stations. Winter maintenance costs rise up to 45000 shillings per km on Federal roads and up to 106000 shillings per km on motorways.
