COMPARISON BETWEEN RESULTS FROM FLAT DILATOMETER AND SELF-BORING PRESSUREMETER TESTS. PENETRATION TESTING IN THE UK. PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOTECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AND HELD IN BIRMINGHAM ON 6-8 JULY 1988
Flat dilatometer (DMT) and self-boring pressuremeter (SBP) tests have been carried out at eight sites. The soil parameters predicted from DMT tests do not agree with SBP test results. A study has been undertaken of the data from the DMT tests and the SBP results and it is shown that the DMT data can only be used in site specific correlations though a tentative relationship does exist between DMT data and horizontal stress.(A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 828222.
