PUBLIC LIGHTING AND RESIDENTIAL AREAS
OPENBARE VERLICHTING EN DE VERBLIJFSFUNCTIE
This paper deals with the requirements regarding public lighting in residential areas. Traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists is more important here than traffic safety for motorized traffic. A horizontal illuminance of 3-5 lux is required. In residential areas public security is also an important issue. Investigations from 1980 in this field are summarized and subsequent studies are reviewed. (a)
