CHANNEL TUNNEL - THE KENT EXPERIENCE
The Channel Tunnel that is now being built is the last in a long line of proposals put forward over the past 200 years. It will be completed in 1993 when it will be Europe's biggest ever civil engineering project. Its impact on Kent and Kent County Council is large. This Paper describes some of the challenges and opportunities presented by the tunnel, with particular reference to road and rail access, and financial backing for the project.
