PROFILE OF AN ORGANIZATION: FRENCH NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR TRANSPORT AND SAFETY RESEARCH
This article discusses the establishment, organization, and goals of the Institut National de Recherche sur les Transports et leur Securitie (INRETS) in France. The French Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Transport jointly administer INRETS. Its mission is to plan, conduct and evaluate research and development on technical, social, and economic issues to improve transportation and traffic systems; disseminate results of research on transportation issues; and train transportation researchers in France and abroad. A list is provided of INRETS program projects for 1989-1992.
