TORSION STRESS INTERFERENCE IN TRANSVERSE ISOTROPY
In this paper the torsion problem for a transversely isotropic elastic body containing two spheroidal cavities is solved by means of a series representation for the torsional stress function, the coefficients of which have been determined by a formal truncation of an infinite linear algebraic system of equations. This truncated solution is shown to be equivalent to an approximate solution based on either a weighted residuals method or the principle of virtual work. Numerical results are presented for the case of two spherical cavities. The details of the study are described and the results are discussed.
