MAKING CONNECTIONS
The article notes that more and more retail develpment is joining hands with mass transit authorities, and in some cases, even leading the way. As mass transit authorities and retail development begin to work together, everybody wins. The history of mass transit-retail development is discussed. Today, more transit authorites are talking to developers in both urban and suburban areas. Transit autnorites are also becoming responsive to the wants and needs of the communities. The transit authority's benefits from this partnership is noted, as well as ways in which developers benefit. These include the boost for ridership, and revenue generation for transit authorites from the joint development projects.
