UNDERWATER SHIP REPAIR

The author describes in detail the technological methods and operations of underwater ship repair, including with the utilization of underwater semiautomatic welding and cutting of metals, underwater painting and other tasks, the technique for which has been developed in recent years. A review is made of the effect of the underwater ship repair methods on the expansion of the production potentialities of the ship repair enterprises for providing the repair of the submerged section of the hull and of the important units on a ship or vessel; the author also discusses the sequence of performing underwater ship repair under autonomous conditions by the personnel at the underwater ship repair stations and by the crews on board the ships. The author explores the questions of the technical monitoring and safety techniques involved in underwater ship repair. The required reference materials are included in the book. (Author)
