SEAT BELT TRAUMA OF THE COLON
As a result of our experience with four patients with seat belt trauma of the colon, we believe that bowel injuries result from shearing of the bowel between the abdominal wall and the spine. Small perforations and seromuscular tears of the colon should be closed and proximal diversion performed. (A)
