THE EFFECT OF A DANISH PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN TO PLACED IN THE BACK SEAT OF CARS
In 1970-71 an attempt was made in Copenhagen by a series of observations of cars with children-passengers to test the effect of a minor campaign for placing children in the back seat in private cars. In the majority of cases shown there is a decrease in the percentage of children in the front seat. It is uncertain whether the trend reflects a more safety conscious attitude by adults or a long time effect of the campaign. The expected savings are in the order of 20 child injuries per year if the effect remains constant. (MW)
