EFFECT OF VALLEY SHAPE ON RETENTION BASIN PERFORMANCE
The effect of valley cross-sections behind flood control structures is studied. An imaginary stream was conceived and reservoir topography assumed, as were outflow versus depth hydrographs. Curves are drawn for storage versus depth for V-shaped and for U-shaped bottoms. Figures and tables help illustrate the conclusions reached.
