SIGNAL-REGULATED INTERSECTIONS, STUDIES OF THE COST AND SAFETY EFFECT OF MEASURES AND THE DISPOSITION OF MODELS FOR THE PROGNOISI OF ACCIDENTS
A Swedish study investigated the effects of installing traffic signals at road intersections. It was found that when there is a considerable volume of traffic, signal regulated intersections have a higher level of traffic safety. For smaller volumes of traffic different results have been obtained. Priority regulated three-leg intersections have a higher propertion of serious accidents involving personal injury than non-regulated and signal regulated three-leg intersections.
