FULL DEPTH ASPHALT
ASFALT FRA TOP TIL BUND
For the design of flexible pavements with a bitumen-bound base 12 charts have been worked out. The thickness for the various layers depends upon the traffic, upon the materials used, and upon the subgrade. The traffic is evaluated by conversion to an equivalent number of 1000 kg axles. The strength of the subgrade is evaluated by the cbr-test, or by plate bearing test. The charts consider pavements using 0-200 or 400 mm subbase and a bitumen-bound base built up of various combinations of 3 different types of materials. The specifications for these 3 types are stated. /TRRL/
