TEMPORARY QUARRYING OPERATIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF AGGREGATES
A PROPOS D'EXPLOITATIONS TEMPORAIRES POUR LA PRODUCTION DE GRANULATS
The author summarizes the papers presented at the symposium, which was held in Paris on 17th and 18th January, 1973. Quarrying operations were classified as a function of duration: Permanent, temporary and intermittent operations. Quarrying installations are classified into fixed, semi-fixed and mobile installations. There exists no relation between both types of classification. A special study is made of mobile installations, operational cost of production and overall real cost of a quarrying operation. It is thought that the knowledge concerning the equipment is through, but that a detailed preliminary knowledge of the deposit, on which temporary installations are to be located, is essential. This knowledge of the deposit must be supplemented by details of constraints imposed by the neighbourhood, which could hinder quarrying operations. /TRRL/
