NATIONAL MAGLEV INITIATIVE: GOVERNMENT-INDUSTRY WORKSHOP, JULY 11-13, 1990. FINAL REPORT
A Government/Industry Maglev Workshop, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was held at Argonne National Laboratory on July 11-13, 1990. The goal of the Maglev Workshop was to reach a consensus on the studies to be conducted in order to test the market attractiveness and technological feasibility of a Maglev system. Participants were divided into four working groups: Market Research and Economic Issues; Vehicle; Guideway; and Systems. This report contains the results of the Workshop. Recommendations of the groups for changes to the system parameters and the key research areas identified in the several groups are presented, followed by a discussion of issues. Also, several "White Papers" on varying topics were presented and their summaries are included along with several introductory and summation presentations by workshop personnel.
