FIGHTING SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN THE WORKPLACE: WHAT EVERY EMPLOYER NEEDS TO KNOW
This publication provides information of interest to employers in the transportation construction industry on the subject of substance abuse in the workplace. The Introduction discusses the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, indicating what federal contractors need to know about the new law, the extent of the substance abuse problem, what the Drug-Free Workplace Act requires, developing a written company policy, certification requirement, and penalties for noncompliance. There are five chapters: (I) The Problem and Impact of Workplace Substance Abuse; (II) The Response; (III) Planning for a Workplace Substance Abuse Program; (IV) Implementing a Substance Abuse Prevention Program; and (V) Sample Policy Statements. Appendices include selected annotated references, State drug abuse authorities, the text of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, and sample policy statements.
