PROMETHEUS. ABSCHLUSSBERICHT ZUR STARTPHASE DES TEILPROGRAMMES PRO-ART
The EUREKA-programme PROMETHEUS is an attempt to improve the safety and efficiency of street traffic by a significant step, based on modern approaches to information transmission and evaluation methods. Within this framework, the subprogramme PRO-ART contributes by solving basic research problems. This report describes the PRO-ART activities in the Federal Republic of Germany in the areas of machine vision and other sensoric channels, approaches towards autonomous, sensor-based guidance of street vehicles, in particular basic driving manouvers, obstacle detection and avoidance, autonomous planning, as well as modelling approaches for drivers and vehicles for the optimization of driver-vehicle interfaces.
