RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE FOR WEAVE-AREA OPERATIONS AND DESIGN (ABRIDGMENT)
This paper describes briefly the development of the final recommended procedure for the design and analysis of weaving areas. The procedure was the outcome of National Cooperative Highway Research Program Project 3-15 and has been published as NCHRP Report 159. Included in this paper are some general concepts or ideas integral to the weave procedure, some characteristics of the calibration for analysis of both macroscopic and microscopic data, and some results of the study of weaving mechanisms.
