VITAL TRAVEL STATISTICS. A BASIC ANALYSIS OF HOW AND WHY PEOPLE TRAVEL. 1990 EDITION
The report is designed to provide a simple and complete picture of how and why people travel and what the major influences are on their choice of transport, This edition is a revised edition of an earlier report ( see IRRD 283569) and is based on data from the 1985-86 National Travel Survey (see IRRD 811219 and 815123). The influence of various factors on the number of journeys made are analysed and the results tabulated according to travel mode, length of journey, purpose, vehicle ownership and other factors. Analyses are also given of the variations in travel patterns that result from different locational, social and economic characteristics.
