STRESS OF THE SUBGRADE BY DIFFERENT TYPES OF SLEEPERS
The stress of the subgrade by prestressed-concrete sleepers BS 65 and BS 66 mainly used by the German Railways is different. Early measurements obtained with tests of the prestressed-concrete sleeper BS 72 showed that subgrade stresses are lower than for BS 62, BS 65 and for the timber sleeper, and are of the order of the values calculated. However, for a statistically safe statement the number of measurements is still insufficient. Therefore trials will be made in tests sections to obtain early results.
