Physical Distribution Management, as other managerial groups, should be concerned with the dirth of women and minority groups in their ranks. This paper reports the findings of a survey about women and minority group involvement in Physical Distribution Management. It also suggests ways to attract minority employees. These fall mainly in the area of education, recruitment and training. The authors advocate that more should be done, especially in providing managerial opportunities, to attract the minorities. Physical distribution managers can discover valuable sources of talent, previously overlooked, by making a positive move towards equal opportunity employment.
