STUDY OF SINGLE VEHICLE RURAL ACCIDENTS: SPEED SURVEY DATA REPORT

The Victorian rural accident study was initiated to study single vehicle accidents on rural roads. Eastern Victoria was chosen as the study area. Large amounts of data were collected from the selected roads in the study area. Accident and control site speeds were collected using radar (day time) and electronic recording of axle detection (night time). These data have been transferred to 5 1/4 inch diskettes and are held by the author. This report describes the form and extent of the data collected. The data were collected for the rural accident study but are now available for other users. Copies of the data can be obtained from the author through VIC ROADS. The raw data has also been retained by the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) (A).
