SURFACE DRESSINGS. SYNTHESIS OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES

This publication provides recommendations for surface dressing design and construction methods, based on specifications used in 12 countries throughout the world. Sections are provided on: a) the definition and properties of a surface dressing; b) different designs and regulations relative to surface dressings in Niger, Belgium, the Ivory Coast, The United Kingdom, Tunisia, France, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Korea, Morocco, Australia and Brazil; c) a comparative analysis of different surface dressing designs, with special reference to: aggregates, hydrocarbon binders and rates of spread; d) an examination of the similarities and differences between the different techniques used, with recommendations for specifications for: aggregates, binders, and design; and e) recommendations for the application of the surface dressings, with separate sections on apparatus, methods of applications, and quality control. The publication is written in both French and English, and the French title is as follows: "Les enduits superficiels: synthese d'experiences internationales".
