ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT STATISTICS ANNUAL REPORT 1988

This publication presents the road accident statistics in Northern Ireland for 1988. Graphs are provided of the following statistics: (1) road traffic accidents, index of change 1980-1988; (2) fatalities on roads in built up and other areas; (3) principal factors in accidents; (4) road traffic accident casualties; (5) casualty rate by age per 100,000 population; (6) driver experience; and (7) motorcyclist experience. Tables are provided of the following: (1) road traffic accidents - rate per 10,000 vehicles registered 1980-1988; (2) accidents on roads 1982-1988; (3) single vehicle accidents, principle factors; (4) seat belt usage; (5) road traffic accidents - time of day of occurrence; (6) weather and surface conditions; (7) fatalities; (8) principal factors in road traffic accidents; (9) principle factors by road user responsible (car drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, passengers, other vehicles, vehicle defects, other factors); (10) ages of road users to whom accidents were mainly attributable; (11) classification of persons killed and injured; (12) ages; (13) monthly breakdown of accidents and casualties; (14) vehicle drivers responsible for accidents; (15) vehicles involved in accidents; and (16) accidents, killed and injured and vehicles licensed 1931-1988.
