EUROPEAN DIESEL FUEL SURVEY 1988 & 1989
This survey is based on the analysis of 96 winter grade diesel samples collected in Europe during the period November 1988 to January 1989. The test data are reported using identical product codes to previous years. Throughout Europe many oil companies continue to market diesel fuel with quality above minimum specifications and increasing interest in premium grade products. This trend is evident from reported cold filter plugging point (CFPP) values and cetane quality. Changes in non-specific properties have occurred and improvements in fuel stability, anti-corrosion, anti-foam and deposit foaming characteristics have been noted. Testing indicates that general improvements in diesel fuel quality have occurred in Europe since the last survey carried out during 1987 and 1988 (see IRRD 817231). Much of this improvement has been achieved through more widespread use of cetane improver, CFPP improver and other fuel additives.
