SHORT LINES HAVE CAUGHT COMPUTERIZATION WAVE
More than 75 percent of small railroads surveyed by an Arlington, Virginia, consulting firm said they computerized either some or most operating, accounting and management tasks. Results showed the most popular items to be inter-carrier EDI products, PC spreadsheet programs such as Lotus 1-2-3, PC data base managers, and PC accounting packages.
