CCATS: THE IMAGE PROCESSING-BASED TRAFFIC SENSOR
This article focusses attention on the different applications of the commercially available CCATS (Camera and Computer-Aided Traffic Sensor) system, developed in Belgium. This sensor, the first of its kind, has survived up to now all the technological, commercial and obviously idealogical problems and criticisms. The article includes the results of different evaluation tests and reports made by the Belgian Ministry of Public Works (the first users), the Belgian Road Research Center and the developers engineering team.
