COMPUTER-BASED ROUTING AND SCHEDULING IN METROPOLITAN REGIONS
A computer based method to improve the management of daily movements of vehicles and crews in regional service activities is described. The paper discusses data requirements and the need to account for traffic volumes in routing decisions. The simplification of the classic traveling salesman routing problems is discussed. A set of 12 application programs for use by schedulers, dispatchers, or operating managers is noted. A case history relating to collection operations in regional banking is described.
