TECHNOLOGY OF AND PHILOSOPHY BEHIND SPEED CONTROLS
TECHNIK UND PHILOSOPHIE DER GESCHWINDIGKEITSKONTROLLEN
So-called traffic radar equipment is today the most widespread means of controlling speed in Europe. Unfortunately the way this equipment works is not understood by the layman. It is therefore not surprising to find that even in technical circles doubt is cast on the principle of the radar measuring method. An attempt is made to make the concept more comprehensible to the layman. The most recent development in the field is directed towards complete automation of speed controls. The transition from sporadic, mobile controls to permanent, stationary controls (automation r) illustrates a basically new control philosophy. Problems associated with fully automated speed controls are discussed. The covering abstract for the conference is IRRD no 208556. /TRRL/
