REGIONAL AND LOCAL ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENTS
This article presents a simple model of a state and local economy in which transportation investments can be "tracked" through to their logical impacts. In the framework of this model, major impacts that might be expected from such investments are identified and discussed. Several key conceptual and methodological issues involved in the assessment of economic impacts are described. Finally, the appropriate role of economic impact assessments in procedures for investment allocation decisions is examined.
