THE ENERGY CRISIS AND ITS IMPACT UPON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW
Cleaning up the environment and meeting energy requirements both depend on a more efficient use of limited natural resources. These two national goals, however, have not been compatible. Controversies have already arisen over whether the National Environmental Policy Act applies to the Alaska pipeline, over amending the Clean Air Act and over continental shelf oil leasing. Instead of one winning over the other; sound legislative decisions should be made, balancing both environmental and energy needs.
